IPAD Study Abroad Forum - Opportunities and Challenges of Studying Abroad


The IPAD Study Abroad Forum is a flagship virtual initiative of International Partnership for African Development (IPAD) and forms part of IPAD’s broader Safe Passage Project. 


The Safe Passage Project is designed to curb irregular migration among African youth by promoting access to accurate and verified information, discouraging fraud and misinformation, and protecting young people from predatory agents, unsafe migration routes, and exploitative agreements or contracts that could negatively affect their lives and future prospects.
Through this forum, IPAD empowers African students with first-hand, practical insights into studying abroad, enabling them to make informed, safe, and responsible decisions regarding international education and mobility.


Forum Overview
The forum brought together African students and professionals studying across Europe, North America, and Asia to share real experiences on:
Admissions and application processes
Scholarships and financing education
Study and work opportunities
Life abroad, stress management, and mental well-being
Opportunities during and after studies


The discussions provided participants with a realistic understanding of the opportunities and challenges of studying abroad.

The forum featured speakers from leading institutions across the globe, including:

Each speaker shared country-specific perspectives, institutional realities, and personal experiences to guide aspiring students.
